FAMILY SESSIONFAQs

How do I book a session with you?

It's really easy! First, you get in touch with me through the contact form or message me on instagram or you can email me directly (contact@tanyamartinovicphotography.com). Then we schedule a phone call together to pick a date, talk about location and anything else you want to talk about. Lastly, you sign a contract and pay the retainer. Your session date won't be booked until those are done. That's it!

Do you shoot only outdoors?

Short answer: yes. BUT, and there's a but. I will shoot anywhere you feel comfortable. Lighting and space play a role in deciding the best place for your family session. I always have suggestions for locations that will give you great photos and a wonderful experience. If you have a place in mind, please tell me and we'll work together on that.

What's the best time of day to have our session?

When we talk about timing, for me, it's about 2 things. One is the light. I generally shoot either early morning (not for everyone, I know!) or early evening at sunset or just before. Midday sun can be harsh while sunrise and sunset makes for dreamy, flattering light. Second is the kids! We will pick a time that includes rule no:01 but that is also after nap or dinner/snack time. Happy kids make for a smoother session. It's super important that your little ones are fed, rested and ready for fun!

Can I have my session during the week?

Absolutely! We can book your session any day of the week. It all depends on your and your family's schedule. There is also a bonus to booking on a weekday - popular locations are less crowded!

What if any of us get sick?

We all know this is a real possibility with kids. It's no problem! We will reschedule your session.

What should I pack for our session?

This is a great question! Having one bag that you put down and pick up easily, fits everything inside and is comfortable. Inside: pack drinks, snacks (non-messy snacks. No chocolate!), wipes, spare clothes (for the super young kids). You'll need room to put phones, keys and anything else in pockets (dad).

Do you have sessions outside of the GTA?

Yes, of course! There is a small travel fee depending on the location.

What if my kids don't (behave)?

I want the whole session to be fun for them so there is no pressure for them to 'behave'. My style is also very relaxed. I tend to not do formal photography of stand and smile at the camera. Kids often feel like they've been playing for a while with Mom and Dad and if they do become restless or unhappy, we take a break or change it up. Nothing fazes me with kids as I have two myself and have worked with kids for a long time. So don't worry about that at all!

What clothes do we wear?

You'll receive a guide from me that goes through the ins and outs of clothes. I will also chat with you about it in our initial phone/video call and you'll have a consultation with me the day or so (we will plan together) before the session to finalize the wardrobe so there's absolutely nothing to think or worry about on the day!

How long will it take to get my photos?

Your gallery will be delivered in 1-2 weeks. I'll be so excited about them that I'll probably send you a sneak peek within a day or two!

Do you do any retouching?

I like to keep things as natural as possible. I will edit out things such as pimples, bruises or dirt marks etc. But that's about it. Any major issues are usually dealt with in-session or loved how it is!

What's included in the package? Can I get prints?

Your session fee is for the actual photo session and a digital gallery. It does not come with physical prints. You can, however, purchase prints conveniently on the same site as your gallery from reputable labs in the GTA (this ensures the best quality) or you can print at any other lab you prefer. I usually advise against places like Walmart or Costco because the image quality isn't a guarantee.

I have another question...

If there is something you want to know that wasn't answered here, send me an email and I'll do my best to answer your question!
